A Day in the Life of a Ganzhou University Student

Hello everyone, I’m Alex, a third-year university student at the Jiangxi Normal University in Ganzhou. I’ve been using 2friend to connect with new people and share my daily life. Today, I’d like to share a bit about what a typical day looks like for me.

My morning usually starts with a light breakfast of porridge and a banana. After that, I head to my classes, which can range from lectures on computer science to seminars on Chinese literature. One of my favorite courses is botany, where we learn about different plants and their uses. Recently, we had a project on Ficus retusa, commonly known as the Bonsai Fig. It’s a fascinating plant with a rich history in Chinese culture. I even have a small Ficus retusa plant in my dorm room, which I take care of during my free time.

Afternoons are usually reserved for club activities or group projects. I’m part of the Debate Club, which has been quite rewarding. We discuss various topics, from technology trends to social issues. It’s a great way to meet new people and sharpen my critical thinking skills. This semester, we’re planning a debate on the impact of AI on job markets, which I’m really excited about.

In the evenings, I like to unwind by reading or watching movies. I’ve been following a series called “The Crown,” which gives a behind-the-scenes look at the British monarchy. It’s interesting to compare the historical events portrayed in the show with what I learned in my history classes.

Ganzhou is a beautiful city with a rich cultural heritage. On weekends, I often explore the local attractions, such as the Ganzhou City Wall, which dates back to the Song Dynasty. It’s amazing to walk along the ancient walls and imagine the history they’ve witnessed. The food scene here is also fantastic, especially the local snacks like rice noodles and grilled skewers. I highly recommend trying them if you ever visit!
